Dear Dewdney Families,

I am writing to provide you with an important update regarding our school's enrollment and staffing for next year.

Unfortunately, due to a decline in our enrollment because of one of our largest grade six cohorts leaving, many families moving to the interior, and a general outflow and lower inflow of students, the district was faced with a difficult decision of reducing the number of classrooms at Dewdney.

This adjustment means we will also say goodbye to one of our key teaching members.

I would like to express our gratitude to the staff member who will be leaving us at the end of June. They have been an integral part of our school community and their dedication and contributions will be greatly missed.

Having one less classroom means that are classrooms that remain are pretty full and therefore we will likely be unable to accept cross boundary applications into several grades.

Of course, registration is dynamic and will continue to grow or decline into September. If our enrollment dramatically increases we may be able to reinstate a seventh division, although this is unlikely.
