Offering a unique Community Outdoor Recreation & Environment Education (program of choice). Please see CORE tab for further information.

Dewdney Elementary is a great place in which to grow and learn. Our school is located in the country, just east of Mission, British Columbia, Canada. We have approximately 130 students from Kindergarten through Grade 6.

We are proud of our excellent fine and performing arts programs. Students enjoy athletics and intramurals as well as field trips. Literacy and Learning is a primary educational focus for us. We are always greatful for the high level of involvement of our parents. We welcome new and returning families who truly make this an exciting learning community.

Inclement Weather - School Closures Info

For current information on school closures, and to sign up for the school closures email list, CLICK HERE

In case of problematic weather arriving and causing school closure decisions, district-wide or partial, please click on this link: http://www.mpsd.ca. ***NEW*** You will see an area where you can now sign up with the school district to get an email when the schools are closed. Please take advantage of this new service. Decisions about school schedules and bus route changes are generally made before 6:30 a.m. This allows for the most current weather information to factor into the decision. The final decision to send students to school resides with parents since they best know the road and weather conditions in their respective areas.

Daffodil

Dewdney School has a small wish list...

- a parent/grandparent/auntie/uncle/distant relative who would "Adopt a class" to guide the teacher and students in their gardening experience. There are 5 divisions and we are thinking once a week after spring break. We recognize the wealth of knowledge many of our extended family members have and we thought they might like to share their knowledge with kids. We have Apple trees, shrubs, evergreen and deciduous trees, a tulip field and corn maze in our naturescape that we want to maintain in addition to 7 garden boxes. We can hardly wait!

- older tents with all the parts to teach students how to set up and take down

- a reliable stroller....many days we walk down to the slough carrying shovels, magnifying glasses, binoculars, jars, sit upons, etc. It would be great to have a sturdy stroller to help carry our science and exploration supplies.

- we need a post and to borrow a post pounder to pound it in to mount our rain gauge. Right now we have had it tied to the electrical box but would like it closer to our weather station.

Thank y ou all for the amazing support we have received!!!

West Coast Recess

Description: C:\Users\admin\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\NYKGAT3L\MC900383318[1].wmfWe encourage outside play for all children…although we understand our “wet coast” weather. Students will have the opportunity to get some fresh air and still stay dry under our large overhangs.  We would ask that you talk to your children about not getting wet and asking to phone home for a change of clothes.  We would encourage students to bring a change of clothes to stay at school if they accidentally get wet.  Some days, the field and grass may be wet but the weather is fine.  Again, we want to encourage play, but please send a change of clothes to school in a bag with their name on it.

Student placements range from 2 weeks to 2 years!
