Dewdney Elementary is a great place in which to grow and learn. Our school is located in the country, just east of Mission, British Columbia, Canada. We have approximately 75 students from Kindergarten through Grade 6.
We are proud of our excellent fine and performing arts programs. Students enjoy athletics and intramurals as well as field trips. Literacy and Learning is a primary educational focus for us. We are always greatful for the high level of involvement of our parents. We welcome new and returning families who truly make this an exciting learning community.
Dewdney Elementary would like to welcome Mission Montessori to our school starting in September 2015. They will be offering an Outdoor Education Program for preschool and extended day preschool at Dewdney Elementary. They also will be offering before and after school care programs for our Dewdney students. For more information please contact Lori at Mission Montessori directly at 604-287-0120 or you can check out their website at www.ourmissionkids.com______________________________________________________________________________
Registration will begin the week of February 2, 2015.
Information regarding Kindergarten Registration for Neighbourhood Schools & Programs / Schools of Choice can be found here.
Please submit your cross boundary request forms for September 2015 by the end of March 2015.
Families are advised that registration of students for bus transportation for the 2015-16 school year will run from May 4th through June 30th, 2015. In order to ride a district school bus, all new and returning riders must complete a registration form each year.
Registration can be initiated by using our online bus registration form, or in person at the School District Office at 33046 Fourth Ave., during regular business hours (8:00am – 4:00pm M-F). Please note, registration is not considered complete until full payment is received. If you are using the online form, you have the option of either making payment over the phone (604.826.6286 ext. 3246), or coming into the office to make your payment.
Students who qualify to use district transportation services, but have not registered by June 30th, or are cross boundary students, are not guaranteed transportation as it will depend on availability of service. Any registrations received after the June 30th deadline will incur a 20% surcharge.
We encourage outside play for all children…although we understand our “wet coast” weather. Students will have the opportunity to get some fresh air and still stay dry under our large overhangs. We would ask that you talk to your children about not getting wet and asking to phone home for a change of clothes. We would encourage students to bring a change of clothes to stay at school if they accidentally get wet. Some days, the field and grass may be wet but the weather is fine. Again, we want to encourage play, but please send a change of clothes to school in a bag with their name on it.
In case of problematic weather arriving and causing school closure decisions, district-wide or partial, please click on this link: http://www.mpsd.ca. ***NEW*** You will see an area where you can now sign up with the school district to get an email when the schools are closed. Please take advantage of this new service. Decisions about school schedules and bus route changes are generally made before 6:30 a.m. This allows for the most current weather information to factor into the decision. The final decision to send students to school resides with parents since they best know the road and weather conditions in their respective areas.

The Mission School District International Student Program is currently looking for nurturing host families to provide a welcoming “home away from home” for our visiting elementary and secondary students. We are particularly in need of homes for elementary students. These paid positions are a wonderful opportunity to share your heart and your home as well as our great Canadian culture with young visitors from around the world. Student placements range from 2 weeks to 2 years!
We invite you to complete our On-line Application Form to become a host family and be a part of our exciting International Student program. Please complete all 5 sections of the On-line Application Form and we will be happy to contact you for a follow up home visit.
